Vápno
Pojem vápno sa používa aj na rôzne produkty, ktoré vznikajú v priebehu jeho spracovávania. Jednak je vápnom to, čo vznikne bezprostredne po vypálení vápenca. Máva podobu drviny, alebo po zomletí múčky. Presnejšie označenie tejto formy vápna býva aj nehasené vápno, kusové vápno, mleté vápno, predtým tiež pálené vápno. Termín vápno sa používa aj na produkt, ktorý vznikne po vyhasení nehaseného vápna, hoci presnejšie je hasené vápno. V podobe jemného suchého vyhaseného prášku sa nazýva vápenný hydrát. V podobe plastickej pasty, t.j. zmesi haseného vápna s vodou ide o vápennú kašu. V príde, že táto zmes obsahuje viac vody a je ľahko tekutá ide o vápenné mlieko. Číry bezfarebný roztok vápna vo vode je potom vápenná voda. Termín vápno v zmysle vápenného spojiva sa používa pre materiál s rôznym zložením. Ak je vápno veľmi čisté používa sa pre neho označenie vzdušné vápno, tiež aj biele vápno, alebo nehydraulické vápno. Ak vápno obsahuje vyššie množstvo oxidu horečnatého jeho označenie je dolomitické vápno. Obe tieto vápna tvrdnú len na vzduchu. Ak vápno obsahuje malé množstvo hydraulických zložiek, ktoré umožňujú jeho tvrdnutie pod vodou, nazýva sa hydraulické vápno. Podľa miery obsahu hydraulických zložiek sa hydraulické vápno delí na slabo, stredne, alebo silno hydraulické.
