The Department of Preservation and Collection Maintenance at Cornell
University, Ithaca, NY, is seeking applications for a Preservation
Assistant for the Graphics Conservation Laboratory.The candidate will assist in the preparation of and during a series
of preventive care workshops, organizing and maintaining
conservation documentation and materials, monitoring the lab’s
environmental conditions, and performing supervised preventive
conservation and treatment of works on paper.Required:
Bachelor’s degree with 6 months to 1 year of experience or
equivalent combination.Good organization skills, excellent eye-hand dexterity and
concentration, a strong interest or background in preservation
of historic or artistic works.Computer and digital photography skills.
Ability to work independently and good communication and
interpersonal skills.Preferred:
One or more years of experience in conservation or preservation
of works on paper, an interest in further study in conservation,
or be a graduate of conservation training or museum studies
